NASA satellite images uncover underground forest fungi

A NASA-led team of scientists has developed the first-ever method for detecting the presence of different types of underground forest fungi from space

Jonathan Myers and collaborators from NASA and the Smithsonian Global Forest Earth Observatory (ForestGEO) publish a paper in Global Change Biology showing that associations between mycorrhizal fungi and tree species can be detected remotely from spectral properties of forest canopies.
